Sorry, summer-fashion fanatics, but I’m having a hard time concealing my excitement at the fact that autumnal buys are starting to drop on the high street. The new-in categories are no longer dominated by floaty dresses and heatwave separates. Rather, they have become a veritable celebration of cold-weather heroes. Think crisp shirting, sumptuous knits, immaculately tailored jackets and stompy boots. It’s enough to make any layering lover swoon.
As always, we wanted to make sure we were ahead of the game, bringing you the best of the best for the coming months. And no, this isn’t to make sure you look as fashion-forward as quickly as humanly possible. Instead, it’s to inform you of the cold-weather buys that we think will truly stand you in good stead for many years to come. Our selection criteria are based on pieces that have been given our personal seal of approval over past seasons and are still going strong. We also recommend checking what is already in your wardrobe so you don’t risk doubling up. August is a great time to take stock, so what’s on our wish list for autumn 2021? After last year’s focus on loungewear, we’re looking forward to a bit of tailoring, primarily in the form of leather blazers to throw over jeans, fitted waistcoats for layering and pencil-pleat trousers to smarten up casual knits. We’re also embracing pops of pink and green, which will add personality to autumnal beiges and browns. Ready? Scroll down to see and shop our new-season high-street edit.
