Marvel Studios has released the first clip of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as well as the film’s IMAX poster.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to hit cinemas early next month, making it the first Marvel film to exclusively hit cinemas since 2019’s Spider–Man: Far From Home. With tickets now available for purchase, the studio has debuted the film’s first clip.
The short clip shows Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Awkwafina’s Katy escaping assassins on the scaffolding of a giant skyscraper. Eventually, the assassins find the duo, which forces Shang-Chi to battle them across the scaffolding. The scene does a great job of showing the film’s emphasis on grounded martial arts against a typical Marvel set piece.
Comicbook.com also debuted Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ IMAX poster. The poster does a great job of emphasizing the hero and his father: The Mandarin. Beside the father-son, two dragons can be seen flying in the air, teasing the film’s fantastical elements. Awkwafina’s Katy can also be seen using a bow, channeling her inner Hawkeye.
As the poster hints at, select scenes from the Marvel film were filmed with IMAX cameras. Razor Fist, a mercenary hired to kill Shang-Chi, and Xialing, the protagonists’ sister, are also seen on the brand new poster.
Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings:
“Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, the Marvel film stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Ronny Chieng, and Dallas Liu. The upcoming movie will hit theaters on September 3, 2021.
