Hugh Jackman finally cleared up the air regarding his back-to-back Wolverine and Kevin Feige posts from last month.
Earlier last month, Hugh Jackman took to his Instagram stories to share artwork of Wolverine created by Bosslogic. Shortly afterward, Jackman posted a photo of him hanging with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Fans immediately latched onto the idea that Jackman was teasing his return as Wolverine, this time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, In a recent chat with Comicbook.com, Jackman revealed that the timing of both photos was just a coincidence.
During his chat with the outlet, Hugh Jackman made it clear that it was just an accident on his part and that he didn’t realize the connection between the photos until fans had already begun to speculate.
“I literally was re-posting fan art and I do it quite a bit because I just love it. And I love the fans. And then I was off doing something and I came back and I’m like, ‘Oh, I think I broke the Internet. No, no, no, no. Guys, sorry. Didn’t mean that. I really didn’t mean that. I’m really sorry.’ And I thought, ‘No one’s going to believe me.’ But that was the case. And you guys are just too fast for me. Clearly way too fast and smarter than me. I just love the fans. And so, when cool things come my way, I’m going to pass it on.”
It seems unlikely that Hugh Jackman will be joining Kevin Feige at Marvel Studios. In another interview, Jackman shot down a potential return as Wolverine through the MCU’s ever-expanding multiverse. However, stranger things have happened in the comic book movie world, so take even the negative with a grain of salt.
