Halle Berry says she has no regrets starring in Catwoman, citing that it was one of her biggest paydays.
Of all the comic books films to have been released, there are a few that have been maligned by audiences and critics for years after their release. One such film is Catwoman, which attempted to be a loose retelling of the Catwoman origin story. The film starred Halle Berry, who was fresh off the heels of winning an Oscar for her performance in Monster’s Ball. At the same time, Berry was also appearing as Storm in the X-Men films, so her joining DC’s Catwoman was a pretty big deal at the time. As you probably already know, Catwoman didn’t go the way Warner Bros. had planned and the film went on to become a critical and commercial failure.
Despite winning a Razzie for her performance as Catwoman, Halle Berry doesn’t regret starring in the heavily ostracized film. Berry told Entertainment Weekly that she has no qualms with the film and that she’s grateful that the project gave her one of her biggest paydays.
“It was one of the biggest paydays of my whole life, which, there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t want to feel like ‘Oh, I can only do award-worthy stuff.’ What is an award-worthy performance?”
Despite Catwoman not living up to expectations and becoming the butt of most jokes, Halle Berry has continued to have a fruitful career in Hollywood. She most recently appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
DC fans will get to see Catwoman grace the silver screen again in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The plot of The Batman is being kept under lock and key, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming DC film, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
