There are various stylistic components that come into play to make an item of clothing look premium, and alongside dramatic silhouettes and heavyweight fabrics, I would have to say that unexpected prints are definitely a key factor. Just take Whistles’ short-sleeved shirt as an example: I spotted the piece within the brand’s ‘new in‘ section and was instantly drawn-in by the unusual map print, something I hadn’t seen anywhere else on the high street. It could have easily just stepped off the runway.
My suspicions were confirmed when a handful of fashion-savvy women (Angela Scanlon included) posted pics of themselves wearing said shirt, and looking pretty stylish in the process. Made out of a silk-blend fabric and coming with a cool boxy fit, this is the sort of top that will instantly elevate your wardrobe basics, whether it’s black trousers or casual denim. I would tuck it into jeans and style with velcro sandals, or layer over a white tank top and shorts for a more laid-back look.
