Harley Quinn star Margot Robbie has commented on the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad and whether or not she wants to see it.
By now it is well known that something went very wrong during the productions of the early installments of the DC Extended Universe, specifically after the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is also well known by now that the theatrical release of Suicide Squad was not the film that director David Ayer intended for audiences to see. The release of Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League on HBO Max, however, has given fans and the director hope that audiences may see the cut the director wanted to be released.
While David Ayer has stated that he is done talking about the film and what went down behind the scenes, it hasn’t stopped other actors from commenting on the situation when asked. During the red carpet premiere of James Gunn’s new film, The Suicide Squad, Variety asked Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie if she would like to see David Ayer’s version of the film. The actress stated that she would like to see a cut of every movie she has been a part of and called the situation with David Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad complicated:
“I think that is all a very complicated situation. I would want to see the cut of every movie I’ve been a part of that I’ve never seen. You know, the funny thing is that… as an actor, I’ve not seen it until half the country has seen it. Sometimes, I see it after millions of people have seen it. You don’t get to see the different iterations along the way unless you’re a producer. So yeah, I didn’t get to see [Suicide Squad] until it was out in theaters.”

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn will next appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Here is the synopsis for the film:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.
The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled to hit theaters and HBO Max on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the DC Extended Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
