Black Adam producer Hiram Gracia recently talked about the upcoming film’s place in the DC multiverse.
Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. seems to be keeping their DC multiverse pretty self-contained with projects like Joker and The Batman. However, The Flash appears to be a project that will bring the universe together in some capacity with the inclusion of Ben Affleck’s Batman.
Black Adam will become the latest addition to the multiverse and introduce characters like Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and other members of the Justice Society. In an interview with Collider, producer Hiram Gracia talked about where Black Adam falls within the greater DC multiverse:
“I think there are versions of it. We’re definitely focusing now though on building out our world. Obviously Shazam! does exist in the same universe as Black Adam and there are some other crossover elements you might feel in our movie. In terms of the details of how they all merge together though, is still in the works. But I think it’s safe to say that when Black Adam appears, no matter what universe you are in within the DC multiverse, you’re going to feel it!”

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the DC film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui are also on board in undisclosed roles. Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing the movie with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon serves as an executive producer.
Black Adam will hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the DC multiverse on the big screen, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content!
