‘The Suicide Squad’s Jai Courtney Wants To Be A Villain For ‘The Flash’

The Suicide Squad star Jai Courtney wants to play Captain Boomerang as a villain for The Flash in the DC Extended Universe.

Following the mixed reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice back in 2016 the DC Extended Universe turned into something of a mess. One of the projects that was reworked several times over was Ezra Miller’s solo film, The Flash which is said to be based on the Flashpoint storyline and could very well reset the entire DC Extended Universe. One actor from one of the early DCEU projects, however, is still hoping to battle Ezra Miller’s version of the character on screen.

Jai Courtney first appeared in the DCEU as Captain Boomerang in the first Suicide Squad film and survived the entire movie. In his backstory, it is revealed that Ezra Miller’s The Flash was the one who put him in prison during a robbery. He is also one of four characters from the first film to return for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. While speaking to Comicbook.com Courtney revealed that he is ready, willing, and able to reprise the role once again as an antagonist for The Flash:

“I don’t know what happened to that Flash film that was going to happen if it happened. Did it get sidelined? I don’t know, man. I’m so down. I think it’s a great villain for him. They got my number. Let’s do it. If that’s what people want to see, then I’d be even more stoked to hear it. But any chance to play Boomerang, I’ll be there for sure.”

You can check out the synopsis for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad below:

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.

The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled to hit theaters and HBO Max on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
