‘Snake Eyes’ Star Henry Golding Says A ‘Transformers’ Crossover Is Possible

Snake Eyes star Henry Golding says that a crossover between GI Joe and Transformers is possible.

Back in the 1980s, both the Transformers and GI Joe franchises made their debuts becoming massive moneymakers for Hasbro through their various cartoons, toy lines, and comic adaptations. Then in the late 2000s, both franchises got the live-action treatment with a series of films that many would call mixed success. Since then both series have had live-action reboots with solo films that were originally intended as spinoffs in Bumblebee and Snake Eyes. Now, star Henry Golding seems to think that a crossover between the two franchises is entirely possible.

While speaking to CinePop, Henry Golding talked about the possibility of a crossover, speaking briefly about his own past as a fan of the crossover comics:

“I used to read the comics with the crossover between the characters. They exist in the same universe. Who knows? They are developing a new Transformers movie right now. I hope we can explore the GI Joe universe at the same time,”

Here’s the synopsis for the Henry Golding film:

“Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.”

Directed by Robert Schwentke from a script written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, the film stars Henry Golding as the titular character, Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais as Hard Master, Úrsula Corberó as Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Steven Allerick as Ninja Commando and Haruka Abe as Akiko.
