It seems crazy to think that just a few years ago, the high-street homeware scene was seriously lacking. Zara Home was still to go big here on Brit soil, and H&M’s offering barely reached past the token candle or rattan place setting. But now, thankfully, there are so many great homeware departments to explore in our favourite affordable shopping hot spots, meaning you can upgrade your home without having to spend a fortune. And at the moment, there’s one high-street brand that’s caught my attention with its latest collection of strong décor—Marks and Spencer.
I’ve always enjoyed shopping at Marks and Spencer, especially its lingerie department, though I admittedly overlooked its homeware for the longest time. However, I’m pleased to say I’ve rectified that oversight, and now it’s the first place I check when I’m in need of an interior update.
Rachael Clifton styles a Marks and Spencer mirror on her vintage teak sideboard.
With everything from bedding to, well, actual beds and kitchenware to pieces to dress your mantel with, Marks and Spencer’s home décor is one of the most expansive out there, making it the ideal one-stop shop for any interior need you may have. This season, the line-up is looking particularly excellent, ticking off classic homeware looks as well as perfectly executing new trends, too.
Mirrors and rugs often come with lofty price tags, but at M&S, there are plenty of styles in both categories that certainly look premium but won’t make you feel anxious when you first check your bank balance after purchasing. Then there’s its faux-plant selection, which is perfect for those of us (myself included) who weren’t blessed with green fingers. Rounded off with an array of beautiful cushions, glassware, lighting and trinkets, my wish list seems to grow each time I browse.
