Emilia Clarke stuns in this new concept design that sees her replacing Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman 2.
Aquaman was a smash hit for Warner Bros. and DC, racking in over one billion dollars at the global box office. The film was also a much-needed critical win for DC, with considerable praise being hurled towards Jason Momoa and Amber Heard’s performances, as well as James Wan’s direction. Aquaman 2 is currently filming in London, with Heard and Momoa returning in their roles as Atlantean royalty. During the film’s pre-production, it was uncertain if Heard would be returning to the franchise, which led many fans to theorize who would be an adequate replacement for the Mera actor. One name that frequently came up was Emilia Clarke, most well-known for her role in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa previously shared the screen on Game of Thrones, making the British star a no-brainer replacement for Mera. While Emilia Clarke won’t be joining the DC franchise, a new concept design has imagined the Game of Thrones alum as Mera, giving us insight into the hypothetical but fan-favorite casting.
