Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer believes that Henry Cavill will return as Superman in the future.
Henry Cavill’s potential return to the DCEU has been a contentious one at least from the point of view of Warner Brothers. After Justice League debuted in 2017 to scathing reviews and box office returns, the studio sidelined the character, leading many to believe that Cavill was moving on from the role. Since then, Cavill hasn’t returned as the Man of Steel apart from his appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which debuted earlier this year. Warner Bros. has already moved on, with the studio working on a new Superman project from J. J. Abrams. Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan is working on his own take on the iconic DC Comics character. However, Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer believes that Warner Bros. isn’t done with Henry Cavill just yet.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, David S. Goyer discussed how he believes that the future for Henry Cavill is still wide open at WB, though he did mention that he isn’t working on any new DCEU projects.
“I think so, I’m not involved in it right now. I’ve heard the same rumors you’ve heard, but I’m not plugged into it. I’ve stepped away almost entirely from comic book-related projects other than Sandman, which I don’t really categorize as part of the normal DC universe. And I’m doing a Batman podcast. I’ve actually done so many adaptations of comics that I needed a break.”

Henry Cavill’s Superman, the first hero in the DCEU, was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is a plot synopsis for the film:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, JK Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
The film is available on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
