Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn has shot down rumors that suggest Mark Hamill will be joining the franchise.
With production on The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series wrapped up, James Gunn is now setting his eyes on closing out the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for Marvel. First up, however, is the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which stirred up some casting rumors earlier this year. Set to release a year before the third film, the Holiday Special is a clear nod towards the infamously mediocre Star Wars Holiday Special. Luke Skywalker star Mark Hamill painfully teased Gunn on Twitter about holiday specials not working out too well, which left many under the impression that Hamill would be joining the Marvel franchise.
I have a very bad feeling about this… https://t.co/JkZs7hamVA

Earlier this week, Big Screen Leaks published a rumor that suggested that Mark Hamill was indeed joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, prompting many fans to get excited. After all, Hamill did jokingly discuss the Holiday Special. Well, it was merely as a joke as the director himself confirmed that the Star Wars star has no plans of joining the franchise. A Twitter thread about the article ended up getting seen by James Gunn, who then responded to a tweet denying the rumor by confirming that Hamill won’t be joining the cast. The report was eventually deleted.
Sounds like and is.
