New promotional merchandise from The Suicide Squad offers new looks at the villain Starro and lead protagonist Harley Quinn.
The countdown for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is decreasing by the day but the wait is still agonizing. Set to hit HBO Max and theatres on August 5, the sequel/reboot of the 2016 film is all set to be one of the DC Extended Universe’s most chaotic and kinetic films. Set to bring back some of the original characters such as Harley Quinn and Rick Flag, the film also introduces new characters like Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, and the Kaiju Starro.
With The Suicide Squad set to release in under a month, promotion on the film has ramped up. A new set of promotional merchandise featuring posters and stickers has been found online. The merchandise gives brand new looks at Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Starro, and also features an ensemble look at the entire Squad. Most of the merch focuses on Harley Quinn, ostensibly the film’s main character, but pay close attention to the Starro sticker. On it, you’ll see key members of the Squad with Starro-like spores on their heads, making them susceptible to the Kaiju’s mind-control powers. It appears to be seen if this is just a design choice or if members like Harley Quinn and Bloodsport will be controlled by the alien starfish in the film.

You can check out the synopsis for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad below:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.
