Last year, Lucy Williams posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing Arket’s of-the-moment elastic-waist shorts. After seeing the image, I immediately found myself clicking over to the brand’s website, desperate to get a pair of my own, knowing full well they’d become a hero summer item I’d wear all season long. To my disappointment, the staple had already sold out in several different colours.
Thankfully, Arket knows a thing or two about keeping their customers happy, as this year the label has restocked the popular item in black, white, light beige, pink and striped white. An influencer favourite, already this season the shorts have been worn by Lucy Williams and Rachael Clifton of Bubbly Aquarius, proving they are indeed a very hot commodity.
Though they are certainly an expensive-looking staple, the shorts retail for a very affordable £35 and given their versatility, I have already thought of about 35 different ways I’d like to wear them. With a matching linen shirt, a racer tank and my Stan Smith sneakers à la Lucy Williams for starters. So whether you’re at home, at your local park or even venturing to the beach this summer, a pair of elastic waist linen shorts are the wear-anywhere staple that will see you through almost all occasions.
