J. Jonah Jameson actor JK Simmons discussed his “bizarre” return to the Spider-Man films.
One of the strangest, but perhaps most beloved, casting decisions in recent memory was bringing back JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Simmons expertly played the same role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, easily becoming one of the highlights from that franchise. Fans directly tied Simmons’ performance to the character of Jameson, making it difficult to imagine anyone else as the insane but lovable Editor of The Daily Bugle.
During the post-credits of Spider-Man: Far From Home, it was revealed that JK Simmons was back in the role of J. Jonah Jameson, this time as something of a conspiracy theorist running The Daily Bugle. In a recent interview with Variety at the premiere of his upcoming film The Tomorrow War, Simmons was asked to discuss what it was like to return to the character after so many years. The actor teased his potential return to the character without giving out much info.
“I mean like… weird, bizarre, wonderful…you know? Of course, I was in the Sam Raimi version of that universe which I love love loved so much. And now I’m in the new version of that universe, which I’ve also embraced, and having a great time in. I look forward to… [Simmons crosses his fingers]… maybe more.”
Who knows, with the formal introduction of the multiverse almost a guarantee in Spider-Man: No Way Home, we could see Far From Home‘s Jameson interacting with Raimi’s version. Do you think JK Simons will show up in No Way Home? Comment below and let us know!
