Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 has started production.
It’s almost surprising to say but Keanu Reeves is hard at work bringing us the fourth entry in the John Wick franchise. The first film, released in 2014, was a mid-budget action-thriller with a simple revenge story at its core. Opening to stellar reviews and box-office returns among a superhero-ladened cinematic landscape, Lionsgate’s John Wick quickly became one of Hollywood’s most interesting franchises thanks to Keanu Reeves’ stellar performance as the titular character and the creative team’s effort to up the ante every film without sacrificing quality.
Originally set to begin production last year, John Wick: Chapter 4 has finally started production, with a release date for late May 2022, three years after John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The fourth film was originally set to be shot back-t0-back with the fifth film but those plans were scrapped by Lionsgate, likely due to COVID rather than faith in the franchise. To celebrate the start of production, the official Twitter account for the Keanu Reeves-led franchise shared a photo of a director’s chair with the John Wick: Chapter 4 logo taken in a green, dimly lit warehouse.

Here is the official synopsis for the latest film in the franchise:
John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.
Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.
The next film in the franchise is currently scheduled to be released on May 27, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming John Wick film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
