The second episode of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki had a shocking villain reveal that could potentially have huge ramifications for the so-called Sacred Timeline.
THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR LOKI.
Leading up to the premiere of Loki, it was uncertain who or what was the villain that Tom Hiddleston would be battling up against. The promotional footage mostly discussed how Loki had to help the Time Variant Authority clean up the mess he created when he opened up pockets of the multiverse. However, as the first episode of the series came to a chilling close, audiences knew exactly who Loki was going up against: himself. Kind of.
The second episode expanded on the idea that Tom Hiddleston’s character was going up against a deviant version of himself. Audiences were led to believe that he and the TVA were just chasing a more evil and sinister version of the God of Mischief. And while that may be objectively correct, the true villain of Loki is a complete curveball thrown to audiences. The episode confirms that there are multiple Loki variants, but the one that Hiddleston and the TVA are looking for is hiding out in post-apocalyptic events. When Loki gets to one such post-apocalyptic event, he comes face to face with Lady Loki, played by Sophia Di Martino.
Of course, Sophia Di Martino’s character is never explicitly mentioned as Lady Loki, and only as a variant of the God of Mischief, but everything from the reveal to her outfit points to her being the female version of The God of Mischief. Audiences will just have to wait and see to find out more about this mysterious new villain.
