You don’t have to look very far, both in the digital world and IRL, to see that dresses have collectively become our favourite ways to celebrate our re-entry into society. Of course, it always helps when the temperature gauge is reaching the high-twenties which, in British terms, is truly sweltering. While I have enjoyed the comeback of the mini this year, I also cannot deny the pull of the trusty midi dress, the wardrobe staple that us editors turn to season after season.
In previous years the midi dress selection has tended to be on the limited side—it was maxis and minis that got all the attention—and there was typically one silhouette that hit the big-time on any given season. However, this year the midis on offer are truly eclectic: From the curve-skimming fits of a knee-grazing bodycon and the floaty appeal of a smock, to the drama of puffed sleeves and the throw-on-and-go charm of a T-shirt dress. At Who What Wear we believe that amazing style shouldn’t just be constrained to three-figure price tags, so I wanted to create an edit of timeless midi dresses that catered to every budget. On the lower-end is the likes of Monki, Weekday and H&M, while at the other end is Rejina Pyo, Rixo and Caes, but each and every one has been hand-picked and, if I do say so myself, will be worth the investment.
