Tom Hiddleston Says Loki Won’t Be In ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Tom Hiddleston has stated that his character, Loki, won’t be in the upcoming Marvel film, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Tom Hiddleston has had a career as Thor’s dubious brother for a decade now but it looks like the sibling rivalry angle may be coming to an end. Arguably one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s more tragic villains, Loki was revealed to actually be a frost giant in the 2011 film, Thor and would have a complicated relationship with the other Asgardians after. Throughout the films, he would be both an ally and antagonist for his adoptive brother before definitively siding with him against their sister Hela with the ending of Thor: Ragnarok implying that the two were definitively done being enemies. Sadly this did not last very long.

Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was killed trying to save Thor from Thanos at the start of Avengers: Infinity War. A parallel timeline version of Loki would eventually escape with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, which will be the version of the character that we will now be following forward. But, for the time being, at least, we will not be seeing this version of the character interact with Thor.

While speaking to Empire Magazine Tom Hiddleston addressed the possibility of appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder. While he didn’t toss out a potential appearance in another film, he did say that the story between the two characters should remain closed for the time being:

“We talked about the Thor movies as a family saga, and the diametric opposition between Thor and Loki and duality and antagonism being a book that perhaps should remain closed for the moment.

We have explored about as much as we can about these two brothers.”

What do you all make of Tom Hiddleston’s words? Do you think the relationship between Thor and Loki has been played out at this point? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
