Loki writer Michael Waldron has broken his silence on his upcoming Star Wars project with Kevin Feige.
One of the most exciting projects coming out of Lucasfilm is Kevin Feige’s Star Wars project. Feige’s track record and attention to detail as the craftsman for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made him a Hollywood superstar and hero to fans and geeks alike. Details are practically non-existent for his upcoming Star Wars project but it is known who he’ll be working with in a galaxy far, far away. Joining Feige is writer Michael Waldron, who most recently worked with the MCU head honcho on Loki, which is set to his Disney Plus next week.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Loki writer opened up about his upcoming Star Wars project with Kevin Feige. He didn’t go into explicit details about the project but he did touch upon his excitement.
“You’ve heard all my references here. Star Wars! Indiana Jones! [Kathleen Kennedy], she’s made so many of my favorite movies. To get to collaborate with both of those entities is a dream come true. I grew up a pro-wrestling guy, probably more of a Star Wars guy, but my love of Marvel came from the movies.”
Dan Harmon, who has previously worked with Waldron on Community, Rick and Morty, and HarmonQuest also spoke to the outlet, discussing the Loki writer’s duties as a Star Wars scribe.
“Star Wars is definitely sticky because if you make a certain brand of nerd happy, you’re actually middle fingering an adjacent breed of nerd, if you take it too seriously, you’re doing it wrong. If you don’t take it seriously enough, you’re definitely doing it wrong. It needs that total joy of the greatest franchise ever, along with a kind of swagger. I do think that Waldron would make a good match for that, but I don’t know if he would make a good match for the machine that’s carrying that stuff.”
