Samuel L Jackson’s upcoming Secret Invasion series has quite a delicious-sounding working title.
The upcoming Secret Invasion series for Disney Plus is shaping up to be something rather special. In recent weeks, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Coleman and Christopher McDonald have all signed on for the series. Pre-production is currently underway and in a few short weeks, cameras will begin rolling for the Marvel series. With production almost underway, we’ve learned that the working title for the Samuel L Jackson series is Jambalaya.
In case you aren’t a culinary enthusiast, Jambalaya is a rice-based dish that is an amalgamation of French, Spanish, and West African cuisines that is widely consumed all over the world, especially in its birthplace Louisiana. So, what does Jambalaya have to do with Marvel? Well, Secret Invasion could feature references to the dish but we won’t be able to confirm that until the Samuel L Jackson series hits Disney Plus in 2022 or 2023. For now, it can be speculated that the diverse nature of the dish reflects the series’ nature in pulling influences from different comics.
The Secret Invasion series depicted multiple Skrulls slowly planting themselves onto Earth, disguised as superheroes, to ultimately take over the planet. The limited comic book series featured dozens of characters from all across the Marvel universe. The Samuel L Jackson series may differ from this original premise considering that the Skrulls are far less threatening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than they are in the comics.
