Robert Pattinson signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, HBO Max, and New Line Cinema following production on The Batman.
The Batman is still months away from release, but it looks like Warner Bros. is committed to Matt Reeves’ take on the Dark Knight. Last summer, it was revealed that Reeves was working on a Gotham PD series for HBO Max, and last week, it was announced he is also developing the Caped Crusader animated series with JJ Abrams and Bruce Timm.
After starring in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and The Batman, Robert Pattinson is also committing to Warner Bros. with a first-look deal. The first-look deal means Pattinson will be able to choose from a variety of projects across film and television through Warner Bros.’s different outlets. Pattinson said the following about working with Warner Bros. in the future:
“Warner Bros Pictures and HBO have always been synonymous with groundbreaking filmmaking. I’m thrilled to be working with them to discover the most exciting new voices in film and television and help bring their visions to life. I’ve loved working with the studio over the years and have so much respect for their dedication, their willingness to take chances and their desire to push the envelope creatively.”
In a joint statement, Warner Bros. Pictures Production and Development President Courtenay Valenti and New Line Cinema President & Chief Creative Officer Richard Brener had this to say about the Robert Pattinson deal:
“We have been incredibly impressed with Rob’s eye for identifying dynamic new filmmakers. Additionally, he is continually nurturing exciting story ideas into compelling screenplays. We are so excited that Warner Bros and New Line will be his home and that we get to benefit from his creative, commercial passions.”

The plot of The Batman is being kept under wraps, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the new DC film, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
