Iron Man 2 star Mickey Rourke recently took aim at Marvel Studios in a bizarre post praising Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
It’s fair to say that Iron Man 2 isn’t the most popular entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it did manage to push things forward by introducing the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson as Black Widow and Nick Fury respectively. Although the villain of the film, Whiplash, was killed off in the finale meaning Mickey Rourke never got the chance to reprise the role in a future film. Which is just as well really, since he still bears a grudge against Marvel Studios for cutting his role down to a simple comic book villain.
Mickey Rourke’s thoughts on Marvel Studios haven’t changed since his infamous 2011 interview where he blasted the company for Iron Man 2. He recently took to Instagram to praise Law and Order: Special Victims Unit for keeping him entertained throughout lockdown, ending his essay-like caption with a shot at Marvel Studios as he called the acting talents of its sprawling cast “cr*p.” Take a look below.
What do you make of Mickey Rourke’s shot at Marvel Studios in the Instagram post? Did you like his role in Iron Man 2? Sound-off in the comments below!
