Wayne T. Carr has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from his deleted Green Lantern scene for the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League.
During the Justice Con event, Zack Snyder revealed that his original Justice League ending featured John Stewart and Kilowog instead of Martian Manhunter, setting up the return of the Green Lantern Corps. Snyder also confirmed reports that his John Stewart was played by Wayne T. Carr, a Broadway actor he met through Cyborg star Ray Fisher.
This morning, Wayne T. Carr took to his official Twitter page to offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at his deleted Justice League scene. Carr’s Twitter post shows the actor in a motion capture suit that would later be replaced with a Green Lantern outfit, as the people behind the film were unable to make him a physical costume due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a recent interview, Wayne T. Carr explained that Zack Snyder shot the Green Lantern scene without getting approval from Warner Bros. and was forced to remove it from the final version of his Justice League cut. The scene was shot in Snyder’s driveway, something Carr referenced with the hashtag “#drivewaystudios.”
John Stewart never made an appearance in the final version of Justice League, but the film did feature two other members of the Green Lantern Corps — Kilowog and Yalan Gur. Kilowog’s Justice League appearance is only a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Easter egg as the character is seen dead over the remains of the Hall of Justice during the scene in which Cyborg has a vision of the Knightmare timeline. Meanwhile, Yalan Gur can be seen in action during the “History Lesson” sequence before meeting his end at the hands of a young Darkseid.
Here is the official synopsis for the Zack Snyder cut:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons and Ciarán Hinds.
