Netflix has released the first trailer for its next live action DC Comics series, Sweet Tooth, based on the comic by Jeff Lemire.
Netflix has added yet another comic book series to its impressive roster of original shows, with audiences loving The Umbrella Academy, Locke and Key as well as the now-canceled slate of Marvel projects including Daredevil and The Punisher. But the latest beloved comic series to be brought to life by Netflix is DC Comics’ Sweet Tooth. Based on Jeff Lemire’s work of the same name, the story follows a young half deer, half-human boy named Gus as he tries to make his way through a post-apocalyptic landscape. And the trailer promises a charming fairytale with a twist.
After producer Robert Downey Jr. first tried to get the project off the ground at Hulu in 2018 before it moved over to Netflix in 2020. Jeff Lemire confirmed in a newsletter at the start of 2021 that the eight-episode series had wrapped filming, and now there’s not long to wait until it arrives on our screens. Christian Convery stars as Gus the half-deer, half-human boy who has to find a way of surviving in the post-apocalypse. Watch the first trailer for the DC Comics series below.
