Like most highly anticipated blockbusters in the last two years, the latest installment of The Conjuring franchise, The Devil Made Me Do It, was delayed thanks to the ongoing pandemic. But thankfully, the horror film will soon arrive simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max later this year. The first trailer recently arrived online, teasing fans with yet another case taken from the files of the real-life paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The Devil Made Me Do It is based on the real case of Arne Johnson, who used a defence of demonic possession when he was accused of murder back in 1981. The intense footage shows that Lorraine Warren goes further into the paranormal to investigate what really happened, while a memorable moment on a waterbed may keep some audiences up at night. Here’s the synopsis for the film:

The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.

Directed by Michael Chaves from a script written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and James Wan, the sequel stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook and Julian Hillard.
