Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is on board to direct Netflix and Legendary’s live-action Gundam movie.
Legendary is currently coming off the success of Godzilla vs. Kong, which grossed a pandemic best and added lots of HBO Max subscriptions. The studio is now partnering up with Netflix to deliver an adaptation of the popular anime series, Gundam. On Monday, Netflix announced they will be re-teaming with Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who will helm the Gundam movie.
In addition to Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing the live-action Gundam movie, renowned comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan will pen the script and executive produce. The beloved Gundam anime series is set in the future where human colonies fight for independence from Earth in robotic Mobile Suits.

Here’s the official synopsis for Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong:
“Legends collide in “Godzilla vs Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. Directed by Adam Wingard, the upcoming film stars Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, and Brian Tyree Henry, Demian Bichir, Rebecca Hall, and Kyle Chandler.
