One of the producers on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has debunked the rumor that Chadwick Boseman will cameo in the series as Black Panther.
After creator and writer Malcolm Spellman revealed that a surprise Marvel hero will make an appearance in the fifth episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, fans went into overdrive theorizing about who it is that will show up during Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ mission. One of the most popular suggestions is that Chadwick Boseman might’ve shot footage for the series before his death and will show up as Black Panther. It’s mainly stemmed from the fact that Ayo and some of the Dora Milaje attacked John Walker and Blackstar in an attempt to capture Baron Zemo. But it seems like that isn’t the case.
Since Ryan Coogler is gearing up to start work on Black Panther 2 later this year, Nakia actress Lupita Nyong’o recently explained that she feels like Boseman would’ve wanted them to continue with the sequel. But Marvel producer Nate Moore recently told Vanity Fair’s Still Watching podcast that Black Panther won’t appear in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier simply because using Chadwick Boseman as a way of drawing fans in for another episode wouldn’t sit right with the studio. Take a look at Nate Moore discussing The Falcon and The Winter Soldier below.
“No. I can say. That is not going to happen. I would be honest if it was. Chad’s passing is a whole life thing, and I loved the guy as much as the character. I think we have to be very careful and thoughtful about when he appears, because he meant so much to a lot of people as much as he meant to us. But yeah, we wouldn’t use that as a ‘Come next week; maybe you’ll see Panther!’ We wouldn’t, and he’s not.”
Who do you think is going to show up in the next episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier? Are you disappointed that it won’t be Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther? Sound-off in the comments below.
Here is the official synopsis for the Marvel Studios series:
