If you’re a die-hard minimalist, you might want to look away now. Or, you know, maybe not. After all, we all need a bit of visual stimulation every now and then, and when it comes to the land of prints, it doesn’t get much more stimulating than this season’s graphic heavy hitters. This ain’t your usual line-up of ditsy florals and polka dots, because 2021 has brought in the big guns with everything from psychedelic swirls and trippy waves to geometric checkerboard. This is unashamed sensory overload, but one we are more than happy to embrace after a year of beige knits and slippers.
At the top of my wishlist is the checkerboard and the psychedelic swirl, both of which offer any outfit a personality-packed finish. I recently fell for a particular pair of trousers from Monki that had an amazing monochrome swirl, but within an hour of dropping on-site they had sold out—definitive proof of the print’s covetable status right now. Thankfully there are plenty of alternatives out there, such as House of Sunny’s Paradise Party Pant, which should be styled with a white tee and sandals for a picnic-ready get-up. I also recommend checking out Paloma Wool, aka the queen of the graphic print: be it colourful checks, oversized swirls or dynamic spirals (if you need proof, check out their Tornado Sandals, which are simply perfection).
These prints never fail to put a smile on my face, and I have a feeling that you might find the same, regardless of your personal style. Scroll down to see and shop the graphic prints trends that I can’t stop thinking about this season.
