The arrival of Godzilla vs Kong on HBO Max has given the streaming service a huge boost in subscriptions according to new data.
Like any big boxing match, audiences flock to see who comes out on top. And it doesn’t get any bigger than Godzilla vs Kong on HBO Max. Although this cinematic clash of the titans had to debut on the streaming service as well as in theaters because of the ongoing global situation, it still performed quite well as fans were desperate to see which monster would come out on top. The film even overtook Zack Snyder’s Justice League in terms of viewership.
According to new data from Variety and TVision, Godzilla vs Kong gave HBO Max one of its strongest weeks for bringing in new subscribers since the platform debuted in May 2020. It still hasn’t beaten the Christmas highs that came with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984, but for a late March release date – the latest film in the MonsterVerse has performed extraordinarily well.
