A new report alleges that Joss Whedon threatened to harm Gal Gadot’s career on the set of Justice League.
Last year, Gal Gadot opened up about her time on the set of the Justice League reshoots that were overseen by Joss Whedon, with the Wonder Woman actress saying that her experience with the director “wasn’t the best one.” This morning, The Hollywood Reporter published an article focusing on the allegations of misconduct on the film’s set, revealing details about an incident involving Gadot and Whedon. Here’s the full quote from THR:
“The biggest clash, sources say, came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. While Fisher declines to discuss any of what transpired with Gadot, a witness on the production who later spoke to investigators says that after one clash, ‘Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.’”
According to THR, Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins took their complaints to then Warners chairman Kevin Tsujihara, who stepped down from the studio in March 2019 following a sexual misconduct scandal. Per Gadot, Warner Bros. handled things “in a timely manner,” though there are not further details regarding the incident.
Back in December 2020, Warner Bros. announced that it would be fast-tracking Wonder Woman 3 following the success of its predecessor. Patty Jenkins is set to write and direct the threequel, with Gadot on board to reprise her role as Diana Prince.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was last seen in the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
