Helen Mirren has joined the cast of the Zachary Levi-led Shazam! Fury of the Gods in a key role.
Zachary Levi’s Shazam! sequel has a new addition to its growing cast! According to TheWrap, Helen Mirren has been cast in the upcoming DC Film. Mirren joins Rachel Zegler as a newcomer to the already star studded franchise.The academy award winning actress is set to play the villainous Hespera, a daughter of Atlas, in Fury of the Gods.
Not much is currently known about the sequel, but recent rumors surrounding Shazam! Fury of the Gods claimed that the film would feature Henry Cavill’s Superman. A trade report later debunked the rumors, citing two sources with knowlege of the production and the actor’s schedule. Cavill’s Superman can be seen in the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League, which is currently streaming on HBO Max.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is expected to begin production later this year but the film won’t hit theaters until June 2023. New Line is also gearing up to begin production on Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, a spin-off movie focusing on Shazam’s arch-nemesis. Zegler will play a key role in the sequel but details are currently unknown.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out.
