Marvel Studios is developing a Disney Plus series focusing on Alaqua Cox’s Hawkeye character Echo.
Variety reports that Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are attached to write and executive produce the Echo series for Marvel Studios. Played by newcomer Alaqua Cox, Echo is set to make her debut in the upcoming Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld.
In the comics, Maya Lopez a.k.a. Echo, is a deaf Native American who, similar to Taskmaster, possesses photographic reflexes, allowing her to mimic and duplicate the physical movements of her opponents. The once Daredevil lover also took on the moniker of Ronin alongside the New Avengers.
Set after the events of the Marvel Studios epic Avengers: Endgame, Hawkweye follows Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he trains a younger archer named Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The series is written and executive produced by Jonathan Igla, who is best known for his work on the AMC period drama Mad Men.
Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld’s Hawkeye is just one of the many projects Marvel Studios is developing for Disney Plus. These projects include The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
Hawkeye is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in Fall 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
