From fashion editors’ new-found obsession with checkerboard to the proliferation of pastels, Scandi girls sure know how to set a homeware trend. While the traditional conception of Scandinavian design centres around simplicity, white-washed walls and plenty of natural wood tones, a new-guard of design-savvy fashion-lovers are championing a new, but no less chic, Scandi aesthetic that is taking social media by storm.
This fresh approach certainly doesn’t shy away from colour, but it still retains a certain cool elegance that has historically defined Scandi style. After moving house late last year I threw myself into the world of interiors, and it was the Trine Kjærs and Nnenna Echems of the world who instantly drew me in with their joyful yet stylish homewares and colourful paint choices. After all, with our homes becoming places of work, rest and play for many of us over the last 12 months, the desire to ‘nest’ has never been stronger.
It might just be me, but I love having a cheeky look around other people’s homes, particularly those with a shared love of interior design, so it only seem natural that I ask some of my favourite Scandi influencers to show us around their humble abodes. And, of course, they delivered. Scroll down to see how the coolest Scandi girls around are decorating their homes this year. Prepare to take notes.
