For me, filling in my eyebrows is akin to wearing a bra. Although, not entirely necessary, especially in lockdown, I just feel so much more put together when they’re on. When I’m popping to the shop, I always quickly fill in my brows to feel more like myself—even if my face is otherwise completely makeup-free. Being naturally blessed in the brow department isn’t something I have been afforded, however. My brows lack a clear shape and grow so painfully slowly that I’m scared to have them shaped professionally through fear that they’d over prune them and I would be left with absolutely nothing to work with. I’m not sure I could handle a permanent ’90s eyebrow.
Instead, I pluck the odd hair here and there and rely heavily on brow products to create the appearance of a naturally fully look. Sure, there have been some questionable looks over the years but, luckily for me, they aren’t heavily documented and now I can confidently say I have found my a brow pen that I swear by. Enter: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen.
While lots has been written about ABH’s cult brow products over the years—after all, founder Anastasia Soare is known for shaping the brows of the Hollywood elite for years—it’s the brand’s Dipbrow Pomade that has always drawn most of the adulation. And it is a great product if you’re looking to create a full brow look. But, if you’re looking for something that can be feathery, light and overall more natural then it’s the brow pen that needs to be your next pick.
Keeks Reid before applying the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen. The pen itself comes in 9 shades, from a light blonde to a deep ebony, so there’s pretty much a shade to suit any hair hue. Top tip: I found that when first using it, it’s important that your strokes are really light as the pigment is very strong. For best results, I like to start at the inner corner of my brow and gently brush upwards to the tail.

The tip of this pen is longer and more malleable than others I’ve tried so the finish is a lot softer—perfect if you have light hair and are not look for anything too statement.
The khaki shade in this pen is kind of genius. It sounds scary but it’s such a good option if you have cool-toned brown hair and find that some brown brow products are too warm for you.
This pairs well with the Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel for a laidback but full-brow finish. The nib’s fork-like shape mimics hairs really well.
This finish is smudge- and sweat-proof so if you, like me, fill in your brows even for spin class then you can be assured that they won’t melt away.
The tip of this pen is ultra-fine so if you only need to fill in a small sparse patches then this will help you recreate a few subtle hairs with ease.
