Zack Snyder’s Justice League set up many future DC projects and Ben Affleck’s original version of The Batman was one of them.
Major spoilers ahead for Zack Snyder’s Justice League!
A year from now, The Batman is set to hit theaters under Matt Reeves’s direction and a new Batman in Robert Pattinson. Back when Ben Affleck was set to write, direct, and star in The Batman, where his Dark Knight was supposed to go against Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, who actually appears in Zack Snyder’s Justice League to set up the scrapped showdown.
Near the end of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, we get a new version of the theatrical post-credits scene with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke meeting Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor on his yacht. Instead of Lex wanting to create a league of his own, he reveals Bruce Wayne is Batman, which was most likely going to serve as a major plot point in the Ben Affleck-led solo film when it was still happening.
What did you make of this scene? Do you still want to see Ben Affleck’s Batman go toe-to-toe with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke in the future? Sound-off in the comments section below!
Here is the official synopsis for the Snyder Cut:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
