Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige debunked the report that Chris Evans is set to return as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A few month ago, Marvel fans were stunned by a report that Chris Evans was in talks to make a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given that Steve Rogers’ story seemed to wrap up nicely with the Avengers: Endgame finale that left him living a life with long-lost love, Peggy Carter, it did seem strange that he’d be quick to come back. This led to many theories online, with some even speculating that he was actually coming back to reprise his role as Johnny Storm from 2005’s Fantastic Four film as part of the MCU’s growing multiverse – but that doesn’t seem to be the case according to Marvel head Kevin Feige.
When speaking to Entertainment Weekly about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and the future of the MCU, Kevin Feige was asked about Chris Evans’ rumored return to the Captain America role. Interestingly, the producer completely denied the idea, prefacing the idea by saying he rarely says no to things outright anymore. He noted that Chris Evans had already dispelled the rumor, indicating it shouldn’t be taken seriously. Take a look at Kevin Feige’s comments below.
“I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but I think that rumor was dispelled quickly by the man himself”
What do you make of Kevin Feige’s words? Is this just a simple misdirect so we’re thrown off the scent? Or is Chris Evans completely done with Captain America? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the official synopsis for the Marvel Studios series:
