Karl Urban took to Instagram and revealed the first look at Billy Butcher in the upcoming third season of The Boys.
After a brilliant second season, production on The Boys season three has finally begun. Showrunner Eric Kripke already revealed on Twitter that the next batch of episodes will adapt the perverted Herogasm storyline in the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It sees all the Vought heroes leave the public eye for a week under the guise of a huge team-up to face some bizarre threat – when in reality they head to a hotel to blow off steam in drink, drugs and general depravity. But luckily Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and The Boys will be on hand to catch them all in the act.
Karl Urban posted a new photo of himself on his first day of filming the third season – revealing a new look at Billy Butcher. Admittedly, he doesn’t look too different since the last time we saw him after the dramatic finale against Homelander and Stormfront – but at least it’s good to know that Billy hasn’t gone through a radical change in the time since The Boys season two. Take a look below.
Are you excited to see Karl Urban return as Billy Butcher for The Boys season three? What do you make of the news that the series is adapting the Herogasm arc? Sound-off in the comments below!
Here is the official synopsis for the second season of The Boys:
The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Aya Cash, and Colby Minifie.
