As I write this, Boris Johnson is in the process of telling the nation about the next steps for easing lockdown, and if all goes to plan, the end of March may just see us being able to (shock, horror) head out and see friends—well, from one other household anyway. We’ll take what we can get. Of course, being a team of fashion-lovers, this brought-about an in-depth chat about everything we’re going to wear the moment we’re allowed out. The three high street brands that got the most airtime in this conversation? & Other Stories, COS and Arket, naturally.
We’ve spent the last few weeks scrolling through the new-in sections the aforementioned brands, and mapping out our springtime outfits—a sartorial ‘re-entry into society’ if you will (I think I’ve been watching too much Bridgerton). Yes this might sound grandiose, but honestly we’re so desperate to have a break from our joggers that we wouldn’t be surprised to see a fellow editor strolling through Victoria Park in a ballgown. But, I think we’ll be more than content with some of the new season pieces our fave high street brands are delivering right now. COS in particular is really knocking it out of the park, with sculptural tailoring, chic layering pieces, expensive-looking accessories and timeless staples (this Breton top will never go out of style, just saying). However, if you’re looking for something a little more punchy, then allow me to guide you to & Other Stories, with its pastel-coloured outwear, ruffled knits and XXL denim. Perfect for the extroverted minimalist. But of course, let us not forget the lovely Arket and its penchant for an oversized silhouette, which this season manifests in boxy leather jackets, billowing blouses and loose-fit shirt dresses (just add this season’s fisherman sandals). Ready to go? Scroll down to see the & Other Stories, COS and Arket spring buys that caught my eye this season.
