In celebration of Blizzard Entertainment’s 30th anniversary, we’ve recharged three of the very first games we ever developed — bringing forward all the history, hard work, and love that went into making them — and added a few extras. So, fire up the time machine and dive into the Blizzard Arcade Collection, available today on the Xbox Store! This commemorative collection includes The Lost Vikings, Rock N Roll Racing, and Blackthorne — each faithfully reproduced for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
The Lost Vikings
Three vibrant Vikings — Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout — have been abducted by the alien tyrant, Tomator. Help these momentarily misplaced marauders slash, smash, and solve their way through challenging puzzles to escape Tomator’s mysterious spaceship and get back home safely.
Rock N Roll Racing
Put your driving skills to the test in the raddest race in the universe. Shred your way across hundreds of galactic tracks, then tune up your ride with all the mines, missiles, and jump jets you need to crush the competition and get space rich. It’s a rock ‘n roll rush you won’t forget.
Blackthorne
Step into the boots of Kyle “Blackthorne” Vlaros — mercenary, long-lost Prince of the planet Tuul, and one mean mullet-rocking machine. With brute strength, animal cunning, and a trusty shotgun, fight your way through terrifying monsters and goblin hordes to defeat the evil Sarlac and free the Androthi people.
Level Up the Legacy
The Blizzard Arcade Collection includes two original editions of each game, recreating the experience of what it was like to play The Lost Vikings, Rock N Roll Racing, and Blackthorne when they were first released on console systems in the 1990s (but with some much-needed modern conveniences like saving, loading, and rewinding).
It also contains new definitive editions of each game, combining all the content from the original editions and providing additional upgrades like enhanced local multiplayer for The Lost Vikings, new songs and artist performances for Rock N Roll Racing, a level map for Blackthorne, localization for 13 languages, and more.
And finally, there’s the museum — a literal library of artifacts from these games’ initial development and launch, including concept art and box art, as well as behind-the-scenes bonuses like dev interviews, game lore, and original soundtracks.
Let the Nostalgia Begin
We hope you enjoy playing these classics as much as we did working on them, then and now. The Blizzard Arcade Collection is available today on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility, both as a standalone game or included in The Blizzard 30-Year Celebration Collection (which also provides epic, anniversary-themed in-game items for Overwatch and Diablo III).
