A new image sees Venom and Rogue One star Riz Ahmed as the new John Constantine for JJ Abrams’ upcoming reboot on HBO Max.
After news recently arrived that fan-favorite director JJ Abrams is developing a new Constantine series for HBO Max, many fans instantly cried out for Keanu Reeves to return for the role. But because the project is looking for a diverse lead there’s been some fascinating suggestions as to who could play the Liverpudlian sorcerer. One such idea is Venom and Rogue One star Riz Ahmed.
Riz Ahmed wowed audiences and critics with his incredible work in his recent projects like Mogul Mowgli and The Sound of Metal, while also receiving plenty of praise for his desperate performance in 2014’s Nightcrawler opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. So he’s definitely got the talents to bring John Constantine to life, with the possibility of really leaning into the sorcerer’s tortured persona. This new fan design from ‘spdrmnkyiii’ sees Riz Ahmed with the character’s signature look – and the art makes it very easy to picture him in a dark, grim series from JJ Abrams. Take a look below.

Here is the synopsis for 2005’s Constantine:
Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer graphic novels and written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello, Constantine tells the story of John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), a man who has literally been to hell and back. When he teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, Constantine stars Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, and Peter Stormare.
