With Eternals arriving later this year, director Chloé Zhao teased the film brings a new mythology to the MCU.
Although fans have been disappointed about the extended wait to see Eternals due to the ongoing pandemic, Chloé Zhao recently confirmed that it’ll be worth the wait. The film has assembled an impressive cast with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington and Gemma Chan all part of the main cast. But after over a decade of the Avengers, it’ll be refreshing to meet a new group of superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Clearly, Chloé Zhao is the right person for the job, as the Nomadland director instantly impressed MCU chief Kevin Feige with her pitch for the cosmic adventure. But when speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the upcoming film, Zhao revealed that it will usher in a new mythology to the MCU that will help fans fall in love with the new heroes. “[You can look forward to] getting to know a group of new heroes, falling in love with them and exploring new mythology. It’s a new ride. It’s gonna be good. I’m proud of it, and I’m very proud of the cast. I’m excited for everyone to see it.”

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.
Chloé Zhao is directing the Marvel Studios project from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The cast of Eternals includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
