Zack Snyder revealed DC Comics turned down his idea for a miniseries about Joker killing Robin in the DC Extended Universe.
Although DC Extended Universe fans are desperate to see a version of Robin next to Ben Affleck’s Batman in some form of continuation after Justice League, it seems like DC isn’t interested in telling that story any further after the film’s release. Zack Snyder previously revealed that he wanted to work with Jim Lee on a comic series focusing on the Joker killing Robin, but the director confirmed in a new interview that it won’t happen.
While speaking to the SnyderCutBR YouTube channel, the director explained that the original plan was to look at how Joker killed Robin in the DCEU and how it warped the Caped Crusader’s vision of justice and crimefighting. But Snyder also pointed out that DC decided not to move forward with the idea which would’ve seen the Dark Knight on an even darker path.
“You know, we talked about doing a, I guess it would be DC, they decided not to do it. But we did talk about doing a mini-kind of comic book run on the death of Robin, right? And what happened? How Joker killed Robin and what it did to Batman and started him down this dark, darker road that ended, kind of culminated, with the arrival of Superman”

Here is the official synopsis for the Zack Snyder cut:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
