Justice League director Zack Snyder opened up about the criticism of his work and if it affects the way he approaches filmmaking.
It’s fair to say that Zack Snyder’s work has always been divisive even from his pre-DC Extended Universe Days with 300 and Watchmen, audiences either love his style or hate it. The director recently explained in an interview with the SnyderCutBR YouTube channel that when it comes to actual criticism, he doesn’t find anything that makes him change his approach to filmmaking.
“I honestly don’t look at it that much. I mean look, I’ve looked at the…and sort of analyzed [the criticism]…as I think anyone would do. […] I just don’t…I haven’t found anything within the criticism that would make me believe and/or change anything I do.”
There’s been plenty of criticism of Zack Snyder’s style in the last few years with the reaction to Batman v Superman causing Warner Bros. to completely change the direction of the DCEU going forward. But the director explained that he’d only change things if he felt the criticism would be a good way of reevaluating himself. He added that he wouldn’t change a frame. Take a look below.
“So in that way it doesn’t really affect me, you know? If I felt like there was an issue or some sort of…something lacking within the work, and I needed to look at the criticism to then reevaluate the way I approach things, that would be a different scenario. But I wouldn’t change a frame of anything I’ve done…the criticism is just the criticism.”
