Although Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series garnered critical acclaim, HBO Max’s chief revealed there’s “no active conversations” about a second season.
When Watchmen debuted back in 2019, the series was loved by fans and critics alike – with many praising how it took the world built by Alan Moore and approached systemic racism in America using masked vigilantes. But although it ended on a tantalising cliffhanger, it didn’t seem necessary to follow it up with future seasons since the main story it was telling was neatly wrapped up by the finale.
Damon Lindelof has stated on multiple occasions that for the moment, he has no intention of coming up with Watchmen season two, and HBO Max chief Casey Bloys recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that “there are no active conversations” about another season. He did also stress that it’s always possible that future Watchmen projects could come to life, but it seems like it wouldn’t be for quite some time.
“No change there. Never say never. But that adaptation was so from his brain it’s hard to imagine somebody else doing it. But there are no active conversations, or courting anybody, or putting it out there in the way that we’re doing, for example, with Game of Thrones.”
Would you like to see more from the Watchmen world? Would you like to see a second season on HBO Max? What did you think to Damon Lindelof’s series? Sound-off in the comments below.
