Gina Carano has now commented on her recent removal from The Mandalorian following a series of controversial social media posts.
On Thursday, Lucasfilm announced Gina Carano will no longer appear in The Mandalorian as Cara Dune. Carano’s removal from the Star Wars universe comes after months of backlash online from fans wanting to see her dismissal for sharing several offensive posts on social media related to antisemitism, anti-mask wearing, and more. It was later reported that Lucasfilm was planning on giving Cara Dune her own spin-off series, but the studio held off on the announcement after the actress fired off more controversial posts in November.
Following the news of Gina Carano’s departure from The Mandalorian, it was announced via Deadline that she will develop and produce her own films for The Daily Wire, which hails from right-wing pundit Ben Shapiro. Carano said the following in regards to her Star Wars exit and The Daily Wire projects:
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.
