Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler shared his reaction to the sequel announcement on Wednesday and teased his plans.
Despite VFX artists redesigning Sonic’s live-action look, the film did incredibly well at the box office, earning over $300 million worldwide. It sure looks like the last-minute change were worth it with a sequel in the works. On Wednesday, Paramount revealed the release date and title for the sequel, which generated some reactions on social media from those involved.
On Twitter, director Jeff Fowler shared his reaction to the exciting Sonic the Hedgehog announcement and offered a little tease for what’s to come in the upcoming sequel:

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster video game franchise from Sega that centres on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
