HBO Max’s content chief revealed when John Cena’s Peacemaker series starts streaming on the platform.
As work continues to get underway on James Gunn’s Peacemaker series starring John Cena in the title role, HBO Max’s content chief Casey Bloys revealed when fans can finally start watching the DC project. In recent news, Kroll Show’s Nhut Le has joined the cast in a recurring role as Judomaster – who first arrived in the comics back in 1965. Audiences will first meet Peacemaker when he debuts in The Suicide Squad, which also hits HBO Max later this year.
Casey Bloys also recently opened up about WarnerMedia’s strategy for its films and TV shows and the way they’ll crossover with HBO Max. But when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bloys revealed that John Cena’s Peacemaker was one of the first shows he started working on, and it arrives in January 2022. So at least there’s less than a year to go!
“I just started to get involved with the DC content in August. Peacemaker is one of the first shows I greenlit and one of the first shows coming out, in January 2022.”

Details about the plot of Peacemaker are being kept under lock and key. In addition to John Cena, Peacemaker also stars Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl. James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the series and is directing several of them, including the pilot.
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on a fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie.
