Frank Grillo revealed he will not appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects as Crossbones after What If…?
Avengers: Endgame featured plenty of surprise cameos from various characters who have appeared in past Marvel Cinematic Universe films over the years. Frank Grillo’s Brock Rumlow was one of them, appearing in the time heist sequence during the first Avengers film pre-Crossbones. We also know Crossbones’ fate, since he ends up dying in Captain America: Civil War in the event that sparked the Sokovia Accords.
However, Crossbones will return in What If…? and be voiced by Frank Grillo, but beyond that, the actor told Variety he doesn’t think he will have a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
“They’re done with me. Because of the way the stories wound up being told and just how big the stories became, the Crossbones of it wasn’t really part of the future of the Avengers.”
